A FARM. A FAMILY. A JOURNEY.

500 acres in the Strzelecki Ranges, Gippsland.

Silverwind Farm started with a 43-acre tree change an a dream of a different kind of life.

What we didn’t realise was just how much farming would change us along the way.

IT STARTED WITH 43 ACRES

2016

We left the city and bought 43 acres in the Strzelecki Ranges.

A few cows, some sheep, an alpaca called Acey, a ram called Bobby.

And a whole lot we didn’t know.

We thought we were buying a farm.

Really, we were starting a completely different way of life.

THEN WE STARTED ASKING “WHY?”

The more we learnt about farming, the more questions we had.

Could we farm in a way that worked with the land rather than against it?

Could healthy soil mean healthier pastures?

Could we raise healthy animals while looking after the environment they are raised in?

And could we produce food that we’d genuinely be proud to feed our own family?

Those questions changed the way we farm. And, eventually, they changed the direction of SIlverwind.

43 ACRES → 500 ACRES

What started as a 43-acre tree change has grown into a 500-acre working farm.

Today, SIlverwind is home to cattle, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ducks and plenty of other characters along the way.

It’s bigger than we ever imagined when we first arrived.

But the reason we’re here hasn’t really changed.

We want to grow good food, look after the land and build something our family can be proud of.

FARMING WITH PURPOSE

HEALTHY SOIL

We believe healthy soil is the foundation of a healthy farm.

HEALTHY ANIMALS

Our animals are at the heart of everything we do. We want them healthy, well cared for and able to thrive in their natural environment.

RESPONSIBLE FARMING

We are constantly learning how to improve the way we work with the land and the ecosystems around us.

LOCAL FOOD

We believe food should have a connection to the people and place that produced it.
